Renfrew, 40, joined Bonhams in September 2014 and aided the company’s expansion in Asia. Formerly director of Art Basel Hong Kong (he was the founding fair director when the event was established in 2008 as ART HK) Renfrew was reportedly “surprised and disappointed” by the decision.
Bonhams say about 18 people remain in the Hong Kong office.
