Ary Jan will succeed Dominique Chevalier, who oversaw the change of the Biennale des Antiquaires – the SNA’s Paris showcase fair – from being staged on alternate years to an annual event each September.
The SNA has also announced that the well-known publishing magnate and collector Christopher Forbes will succeed Henri Loyrette as President of the Biennale. The fair has also now been renamed, changing its title from La Biennale des Antiquaires to La Biennale Paris.

Discussing his appointment and the new Biennale developments, Ary Jan said: “My only ambition is to continue to nourish a dynamic of renewal and revival that was carried out exceptionally by Dominique Chevalier.
“Along with the members of the SNA office, I am at the service of the Paris Biennale and we are committed to ensuring that it attains the brilliance and appeal that it deserves. To support this effort, we hope to mobilise institutional and public partners across the capital, to dramatically increase the number of international collectors, and notably American collectors. Christopher Forbes is a tremendous addition to our event and we will live up to the trust his participation requires.”
Fine Art Paris
The announcement of the SNA and Biennale appointments comes shortly after the news that a new fair, to be titled Fine Arts Paris, is to be staged from next autumn at the Palais Brongniart.
It will take place from November 7-12, occupying the time slot at the Palais occupied until 2015 by Paris Tableau, the dedicated Old Master paintings fair which merged with the Biennale this year.
Fine Arts Paris will feature around 30 exhibitors showing a mix of drawings, paintings and sculpture.
