Both the firm’s weekly general sales (previously held at the Garden Street saleroom) and the regular fine sales will now be held at the North Street salerooms.
The decision to close Garden Street follows the retirement of Gorringe’s partner Julian Dawson, who has managed the saleroom since 1959, overseeing the sale of 30,000 lots per year. The final auction will be held there on December 6.
The weekly sales will continue to take place on a Monday with the first on January 9.
Senior partner Philip Taylor says: “By bringing together all our sales under one roof, we will be able to offer our customers a more streamlined buying and selling service plus on-hand valuation advice and convenient parking.”
