Prop Store, a retailer of film and TV memorabilia, is hosting its latest auction at London's BFI IMAX with film props including the batsuit from Batman The Dark Knight, Steven Spielberg’s Jaws clapperboard and a fighter pilot helmet from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
The auction of 575 lots, from 160 film and television shows, has a total estimate of more than £1.5m.
A Harry Potter's Hogwarts acceptance letter carries an estimate of £3,000-5,000, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s original Terminator 2 Judgment Day costume has an estimate of £14,000-18,000 and there is a £6000-8000 estimate for the Leonardo Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume.
Also going under the hammer will be a rare collection of original hand-drawn artwork by visual effects pioneer Ray Harryhausen, from films including Jason and the Argonauts, Clash of the Titans, One Million Years BC and the classic Sinbad films. Lots from the Harryhausen collection start at £200-300 for a signed poster from The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, rising up to £4,000-5,000 for artwork of the skeleton army from Jason and the Argonauts.
The auction will be live-streamed on the thesaleroom.com and fans can get a closer look at more than 300 of the works at a free preview exhibition at the BFI IMAX until the day of the sale.
