The buyer then was Lord Ashcroft, and on February 24 he was again the buyer as DNW sold the group awarded to Wing Commander Leonard Harrison RAF for £120,000. It was sold by descendant.

As with many GCs awarded during the war, Harrison worked in bomb disposal and is believed to have defused more unexploded devices during the conflict than any other man.

The first was in February 1940, making it the first action for which the GC (instituted that year) was awarded.
