In his 10 years as Managing Director of RM Sotheby’s (formerly RM Auctions), Girardo sold 9 of the 20 most expensive cars ever sold at auction – and, as auctioneer at more than 80 international car auctions, grossed $1.5 billion in sales. He’s also sold over $250 million in private treaty sales.

He said it’s been an exciting 10 years at RM but “the time has come for me to establish my own business and to realise my own ambitions. My sole objective is to establish a business which leads the market in customer service and quality. I hope Girardo & Co will quickly become the benchmark by which others will be judged.”

Befitting this ambition, Girardo, who started his career at Bonhams in 1997, has set up in a west-end mews showroom in London, carrying “exceptional quality cars for discreet private viewing”. Services on offer include private treaty sales, consignments, estate planning, appraisals, restoration management and general advisory services.

And despite being based in London, Girardo has international ambitions for his new brokerage – undoubtedly helped by the fact he speaks four languages fluently…
