It is offering the cellar collection of the late Sir Antony Jay, the writer behind Yes Prime Minister, with vintages from vineyards such as Château Latour, Margaux and Château Mouton Rothschild.
The December 6 evening auction comprises around 150 lots ranging from the fine vintages to more affordable options such as a case of Château Lafite Rothschild 2001, estimated at £5000-7000, and three bottles of vintage Taylors Port estimated at £100-150.
Duke’s is expanding its range of auctions and plans to host a number of wine auctions next year.
It has agreed a tie-up with Dorchester’s fine wine vintners Morrish & Banham to host event evenings and the Sir Antony Jay evening sale will commence at 7pm with a viewing and wine tasting by Mark Banham of Morrish & Banham.
Famous for writing the 1980s BBC television series, Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister starring Paul Eddington and Sir Nigel Hawthorne, Sir Antony (1930-2016) died in August 2016. He began his career in the BBC's current affairs department where he was a founding member of the Tonight team.
