The 10hp Tourer was unearthed from the coach house of Glyn Cywarch, the Baronial seat of the Harlech family, where it sat unmoved for 30 years. It is one of only 330 models ever made and retains its Ranalah coachwork.
Jasset Ormsby Gore, a music video maker, is the new Lord Harlech who inherited the family home after the death of his father in February. He made the decision to auction 400 pieces from the family collection to fund the upkeep of the Grade II-listed property.
The Rapier was made during four years of the British marque’s production. It was capable of up to 70 mph and was the highest revving engine of its time. It remains in good condition despite the sometimes punishing weather of north-west Wales and is to be offered with its patina.
It is estimated at £20,000-25,000 at Bonham’s Bond Street sale on March 29.
