Omega Auctions purchased a unit on the nearby Sankey Valley Industrial Estate where it will have a hub for the business as well as extra storage and office space. Three more jobs have been created also as a result of the move, which was effected to meet rising customer demand.

Specialising in music memorabilia, Omega is owned by former chartered accountant Paul Fairweather and his wife Karen. It opened in 2010 and has sold pieces linked to The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Oasis.

Fairweather said that with the purchase “we are able to facilitate further growth with our new premises and expanded team”.

Among the auctioneer’s best-known results are John Lennon’s round glasses, which took £14,400 in 2015 as well as his tooth, which went for £23,000. Earlier this year Omega had also announced the original Eleanor Rigby score would be offered but it was withdrawn following an ownership dispute.

The firm secured a £450,000 funding package from NatWest to purchase the premises. It follows a similar grant NatWest made recently to Antique Interiors, which moved to a location in Hemswell.
