Badr Khan joins from luxury fashion website matchesfashion.com where he was head of engineering.
During his tenure he grew the engineering team from 12 to 55 and has experience across e-commerce, retail, team management as well as wide technical expertise.
Khan said: “It’s very exciting to join a modern technology business that through its digital marketplace and SaaS solutions is transforming two of the last industries in the world that have not moved meaningfully online.”
He joins recent recruits Tom Hargreaves, the chief financial officer in London, and Eric Koenig who is running the North American business of ATG.
"Evolution of the traditional auctioneering"
John-Paul Savant, chief executive officer of ATG, said: “As we expand internationally - we recently acquired Lot-tissimo, the art and antiques online marketplace in Germany and previously acquired Bidspotter, the industrial and commercial marketplace in the USA - a strong and scalable technology will be ever more crucial, as will the pace at which we innovate on that core technology.
“Badr brings deep experience in some of the most advanced and popular technologies and SaaS, both at the infrastructure and user levels.
“His skills combined with those of the rest of our team are vital as we facilitate the evolution of the traditional auctioneering world online at a standard to rival other top tier ecommerce user experiences….all while retaining the value and excitement of the unique world of auctions.”
