If the answer happens to be yes, then an auction in north London of the contents of the Grade II* listed Hornsey Town Hall later today is your chance.

Haringey Council is auctioning off a host of equipment and collectables from the town hall before it is redeveloped.

The council assures concerned members of the public that it is not a sell-off of its crown jewels – most of the building’s Art Deco fixtures and fittings, including all the listed items, the grand piano, committee room tables and original doors and flooring, will be restored to be put back into the town hall after its redevelopment.

The unusual list of lots in the auction also includes assembly chairs, lighting rigs, theatre equipment, disused props, leather bingo cards and vintage safety posters.

Proceeds from the auction, that will take place on the evening of March 7, will go to the Mayor of Haringey’s Special Fund, which supports local charities Mind in Haringey and Studio 306.

The redevelopment of the town hall was approved by Haringey Council in December. Developer Crouch End (FEC) plans to invest £36m and the new scheme will include an arts centre, café, community and events spaces and a hotel and homes.
