Graham and her husband Robin started the firm in 1980 in similar circumstances to the book’s characters, Tom and Maddy. The couple ran Temple Auctions for 20 years before they retired – even managing to make the front page of the ATG after selling a burr elm table for £19,500 in August 1994.
In the book, the main characters face bankruptcy and decide to stage an auction of their possessions. Falling into the kaleidoscopic world of auctioneering, the often humorous story features the couple venturing around Northern Ireland, meeting quirky characters and learning about the antiques business.
A debut novel, it will make you “smile and believe anything is possible if you want it badly enough” according to the publishers.
The book is available on Amazon, priced at £8.87.
