The group was pieced together by a now elderly gentleman from west Norfolk who is a long-standing client of the auction house and a member of the Moorcroft Collectors Club. He also bought works from Moorcroft offshoots Cobridge and Black Ryden. The majority of his purchases were made in the 1990s and early 2000s, and remain on the more affordable end of Moorcroft’s offerings.

Ranging from the start of the 20th century to contemporary pieces, the pieces on offer reflect the range of the pottery, which William Moorcroft (1872-1945) launched in 1912.

All the items produced by the company are hand-painted and employ a distinctive trailed-slip technique known as tube-lining.
