Rawle goes freelance

Somerset auctioneer and valuer Claire Rawle has left Tamlyns of Bridgwater and will now be working freelance.

She has always specialised in all things ‘collectable’ and was responsible for the specialised collectors sales which were a feature of Tamlyns, but has also over many years worked as a general valuer.

As a freelance auctioneer and valuer Rawle says she is also able to carry out probate and insurance valuations, and can be contacted on 07739 395962.


Cole joins Bishop & Miller

Russell Cole is joining Suffolk auction house Bishop & Miller.

Bishop & Miller has appointed Russell Cole as valuer and auctioneer. He joins the Stowmarket, Suffolk, auction house after working at Neal's Auctioneers, Woodbridge, for 13 years, where he honed his knowledge of antiques, specialising in wristwatches and silver.

Cole says: “Joining Bishop & Miller is a great opportunity and one I'm really looking forward to. I've really enjoyed my time at Neals Auctioneers and working with James but now the doors are closing there it’s great to be a part of the team at Bishop & Miller, who have established themselves to be highly reputable and expert auctioneers.”

Collins joins the Cheffins team

Steve Collins has joined Cheffins.

Cheffins has appointed Steven Collins as head of jewellery, silver and watches. He joins the Cambridge auction house with more than 30 years’ experience in the jewellery, silver and watch industry. Previously having worked for Asprey, Garrard & Co, the London Assay Office and a series of other reputable jewellers, Collins is an FGA and DGA qualified gemmologist.


Madley represents Down Under firm

As reported in ATG No 2337, Richard Madley, a former director of Dreweatts, has been appointed UK agent for Sydney firm Shapiro Auctioneers, to source objects with an Australian background or provenance to be sold Down Under.

Madley, who worked at Phillips and Christie’s in New York before joining Dreweatts in 2004, will also publicise sales by Shapiro, which has other offices in Melbourne and Adelaide, to London dealers.
