All six come from the same Parisian family, having passed down by descent since their acquisition from the jeweller.
The highlight of the group will be the Starfish brooch, a signature design from Maison Boivin.
The original design was drawn in 1936 by Juliette Moutard, who worked for the jewellery house under the direction of René’s wife Jeanne Boivin.
Jeanne, who took over the firm after René’s death in 1917, had a predilection for marine themed jewels. The first example was created the following year and sold in 1938 to the actress Claudette Colbert.
The Starfish brooch is set to each of its five articulated arms with round and brilliant cut amethysts and cabochon rubies and is signed René Boivin, Paris to the bar of the clasp. The estimate at the auction on February 9 is €80,000-120,000.
Other pieces in the group include a pair of ear clips set with rows of cultured pearls guided at €3000-5000 and a flexible bracelet set in a foliate design with citrines and diamonds, estimated at €10,000-12,000.
