Highlights of the selling exhibition include a rare London Tramways poster of Ken Wood [Kenwood] & Hampstead Heath, created by Ralph & Brown Studios in 1928, and two pieces by renowned graphic artist Edward McKnight Kauffer.
The show, which celebrates 150 years of Connaught Village and The Hyde Park Estate, is open weekdays at 22 Connaught Street from July 5-27.
L&T are holding the show in partnership with poster specialist Tomkinson Churcher.
Former Christie’s vintage poster specialists Nicolette Tomkinson and Sophie Churcher teamed up with L&T last year to launch poster auctions and events. Christie’s ended its dedicated sale of vintage posters in early 2016. Tomkinson and Churcher now work with Christie’s on a consultancy basis cataloguing posters for design and interiors sales.
Also on the travel poster theme, Derbyshire’s Hansons Auctioneers will be offering a collection of Midland Railway posters, rescued from a station roof at its July 2 auction.
The pristine posters dating back to 1910-1920 were found in the 1960s – just before the station where they were found was demolished.
The poster collection includes Cunard and Canadian Pacific Railway Ocean Liner travel advertisements urging people to catch a train to the coast to join a steamer.
