A ‘Buy Now’ option for select items under the threshold will allow collectors to shop without directly visiting dealers’ personal websites. So far there are 21,000 items available via LAPADA.
All members are vetted and dealers must operate under the terms of the association’s code of conduct, offering peace of mind to online shoppers. There are no commission fees for buyers or sellers.
“The recent outbreak of Covid-19 has had a huge impact on our trade and meant the near complete elimination of face-to-face business,” says LAPADA CEO Freya Simms.
“However, it is clear there is a desire to collect with global online art and antiques sales generating over $370m in the first half of 2020, a significant increase on 2019.”
