The tribal art event, which is set to run from September 8-13, takes place among the galleries of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés quarter of Paris.
Organisers said in a statement: “Everything will be done to enable the event to carry on in the best possible conditions, subject to permission for the event being granted by the authorities.”
It was added that “everything possible is being done to ensure the event can be held as normal under the current conditions”.
Already 51 exhibitors are expected to participate, including 43 tribal specialists, 4 dealers each in Asian art and archaeological artefacts and one bookseller. The international event hosts galleries from the UK, Switzerland, Italy and beyond as well as those from France.
Collector Norberto Izquierdo has been selected as honorary president of the event this year. His interests lie in the art of Oceania, Africa and Pre-Columbian culture.
He said that “dialogue and interaction” were key for art lovers and collectors.
He added: “Parcours des mondes is the biggest tribal art fair in the world, and it is the ideal opportunity to set up these sorts of meetings of the mind and to encourage people who don’t generally visit art galleries to do so.”
