It took centre stage at the Art Paris Art Fair held at the Grand Palais last week, and will feature in the Africa Aperta multi-discipline event as part of the Festival 100% Afriques at the Parc de la Villette.

Later this month it will be the turn of the auction rooms with a sale dedicated to contemporary art from Africa and the African diaspora at Piasa on April 20.

The sale of just over 100 lots will be headlined by this work by William Kentridge, one of South Africa’s best-known contemporary exports.

The monumental study of a woman’s head in gouache, collage and charcoal on paper from c.1997 measures 5ft 10in x 4ft 5in (1.8 x 1.35m) and is estimated at €80,000-120,000.
