Drummond's 'Death of Nelson' sold by Lawrences for £21,500.
Only one other picture by Drummond had ever exceeded £10,000 at auction before and our picture (above) was a version of an oft-repeated theme.
There was just a slight question, amply disproved by the £21,500 hammer price, that it might have been a copy rather than an autograph variant.
Thank you nonetheless for reporting a result that delighted our vendor and our buyer.
