As the new football season gets under way, Manfred Schotten Antiques in Oxfordshire is selling avintage leather football from a different era of the game.
Made in England, the traditional hand-sewn 12-panel tan leather ball dates to the 1940s.
It is priced at £145.
A 19th century declomania pharmacy jar labelled for Peruvian Bark, a remedy for malaria, is estimated at £400-500 in Tennants’ September 1 sale in Leyburn, North Yorkshire.
It forms part of two consignments of pharmaceutical lots, comprising colourful glass bottles, ceramic leech jars, pestle and mortars, pill slabs and scales.
Catherine Southon’s auction on September 6 in Selsdon, Surrey, will feature a small single-owner collection of Chinese export silver.
The 20-lot group, which includes several enamelled examples, was acquired in China in the early half of the 20th century by Henry Thomas Cox.
Cox was posted to China with the Royal Engineers and spent 20 years in the country before returning to London in the 1930s. The collection is being sold by his grandchildren.
This knife, fork and spoon set, with blossom and leaf enamel decoration and Chinese makers marks to each piece, is estimated at £100-200.

Original illustrations for one of Elizabeth Gaskell’s best-known books are going under the hammer in an online sale concluding on August 24 at Forum Auctions.
The 31 unframed pen and black ink works were drawn by Mary Wheelhouse (1871-1946) for a 1912 edition of Wives & Daughters. The novel was first serialised in 1864.
Featuring chapter headings and monochrome vignettes, many are signed, with the largest measuring 12½ x 8¼in (32 x 21cm). The group is estimated at £120-180 and will be offered with a copy of the 1912 book, published by Herbert & Daniel.
