Bloomsbury Auctions holds its final sale on Thursday (December 14), following the purchase of its brand name by art consultancy and valuation company Gurr Johns in October.

Dreweatts 1759, also acquired in the takeover from Stanley Gibbons, is currently working on “how the Bloomsbury name will be used in the future” with suggestions the name might be used “in a slightly different way”.

Bloomsbury moves out of its Maddox Street home at the end of the month.

All employees of the firm were served notice of pending redundancy in October with only one specialist and several consultants currently remaining.
