This example of one of Picasso’s better known earthenware plates, above right, produced in France in 1963, was marked to the back No 189 edition, Picasso, 47/150, Madoura.
The estimate on the 10in (24cm) diameter plate looked tempting at £1000-1500 and it sold more in line with the current market at £3400.
Designed around the turn of the century by William Moorcroft for James McIntyre, this two-handled, tube-lined vase below right, in the Pansy pattern, carried the brown printed mark, green signature and impressed number 366. Estimated at £400-600, the 7in (18cm) vase sold at £1000.
