Before FFA, he held the position of director with art dealer Adrian Sassoon, as well as roles at designer Linley and auction house Phillips. He spent three years at Sotheby’s leading two key specialist divisions.
He was also a consultant to the executive Board of Masterpiece London, helping this fair to become established in its inaugural year.
Peter Sumner of Phillips has been promoted to the role of deputy chairman, Europe, and senior international specialist, 20th century and Contemporary art. He joined Christie’s in 2004 and left as a specialist in the Post-war and Contemporary art department in 2008 to join Phillips, where he was appointed head of the 20th Century & Contemporary art department in London in November 2015.
