THE first lot of the year got 2017 off to a fine start at Duke’s (22% buyer’s premium) at Dorchester on January 10 in the form of this mid-19th century pine rocking horse, above. With original paintwork, the 5ft 11in (1.8m) long horse was described as being in ‘original country house condition’ and was estimated at £200-400.
