Such, at least, is the opinion of Cortesi Gallery, whose ongoing exhibition in its Lugano space focuses on some of Nevelson’s most recognisable works.
It comprises 29 of the assemblages and collages the artist completed from 1960-80, many from the Fondazione Marconi in Milan, which often represented the artist during her life.
“The wooden sculptures, the assemblages, are what she is best known for, but it is important to note that her refined collages reveal the evolution of the artist’s taste for Cubism, New Dada and Abstractionism,” says founder and director Stefano Cortesi.
The exhibition runs until April 7.
