The antiquities dealer is claiming $77m in damages, saying that the Getty broke a confidentiality agreement relating to the collection which includes 620 Greek and Roman sculptures.

The claim values the works at $350m-550m and the $77m in damages reflect the dealer’s expected commission from a possible sale. The museum denied the allegations and said the claims were “baseless”.

The Torlonia collection has since transferred to the Italian government, with an agreement reached last year to create a museum for the collection in Rome.
