Attributed to Sèvres, a late 18th century French cabinet cup and saucer will feature in Locke & England’s July 27 sale in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.
It is decorated with a hand-painted portrait of Marie Thérèse Louise of Savoy (1749-92), Princesse de Lamballe and the wife of Louis Alexandre de Bourbon, who died aged 20.
After her marriage, which lasted a year, she went to court and became the confidante of Queen Marie Antoinette. She was killed in the massacres of September 1792 during the French Revolution.
The cup bears a double Louis mark inset with LF.

On August 9, Dreweatts will include an Italian Art Deco silver four-piece decagonal baluster tea service at its saleroom in Donnington Priory, Newbury.
The service features a period mark for the manufacturer A. Cesa, Alessandria 1934-1944 and is made from .800 standard silver, with composition finials and loop handles.

An Arts & Crafts wooden box carries hopes of £200-300 in Special Auction Services’ sale in Newbury, Berkshire, on August 1.
The 12 x 16in (30 x 40cm) piece, with strapped corners and iron handles, was decorated by the English artist Judith Ackland (1892-1971) in pen and ink, with mythical and exotic creatures, a schooner and prose. The box also contains a hand mirror painted with a dragon.
