Michael was one of five siblings. His father was the founder of a local primary school and his mother ran Fulda’s hotel in Manchester to support her five children.

Sadly Michael suffered a major stroke some 10 years ago while bidding at a Morphets auction in Harrogate, and never made a full recovery.

In his spare time he was a keen tennis player and also a lover of music. He had a fine tenor voice, which his father, a keen opera lover, hoped at one time would lead to a musical career for Michael.

He leaves a wife, Gaby, three children and a number of grandchildren and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
