WHAT’S NEW

Masterpiece London launched in 2010 with a focus on cross-collecting – positioning itself as a leading international event for viewing and buying the finest works of art, from antiquity to the present day.

The list of 149 dealers exhibiting at the eighth annual Masterpiece fair reflects a comparatively high turnover from last year’s fair. A total of 28 ‘new’ dealers includes former regulars at the defunct Art Antiques London fair and others who have been attracted by its growing reputation.

This year the fair will be strong on 19th and 20th century British decorative arts and ceramics as well as traditional areas of strength such as antiquities and jewellery alongside English and Continental furnishings and pictures.

EVENTS

Masterpiece hosts an array of complimentary stand talks, highlight tours and events. The 2017 programme also includes two fee-paying seminars. In association with Sotheby’s Institute of Art, a three-day course titled Masterpiece: The Art of Collecting (June 28-30) is designed to educate buyers on collecting strategies and collection management.

Meanwhile, London jewellery specialist Joanna Hardy is conducting a seminar over the weekend drawing on the jewels displayed by Masterpiece exhibitors to cover a wide range of topics from designers to gemstones.
