This George Medal for acts of bravery was awarded to William Mason from Salford. During the Salford blitz in June 1941, Mason volunteered to pump 500 gallons of oil from a storage well that had been penetrated by a time bomb.
He completed the work an hour before the bomb exploded, demolishing the pump house in which he had been working. The medal is guided at £1800-2500 in Silverwoods’ June 15 sale of militaria in Lancashire.

A First World War Steiff teddy bear mascot features in the Special Auction Services’ June 15 sale in Newbury.
Squadron Leader Ted was owned by Captain SH ‘Bert’ Moy since a boy and is being sold by his grandson. The bear was strapped to his biplane, which made numerous flights between England and the Western Front.
The 7½in (19cm) bear, with blonde mohair and black boot button eyes, dates to c.1908 and comes wearing three miniature medals, two from the Great War and the third a Second World War Defence Medal, for service in the Home Guard. Estimate £2000-3000.

This 9in (24cm) high Chinese Qing Dynasty doucai porcelain garlic neck vase was acquired in China c.1920 and is estimated at £2000-3000 in Hannam’s June 7-9 sale in Selborne, Hampshire.
It is painted with floral vines and scrolling motifs and bears a Yongzheng mark, possibly of the period. It is being sold with an old provenance note stating it is a Yung Cheng porcelain vase.
On June 13, House & Son of Bournemouth will offer this longcase clock with an 11-inch dial by Robert Dingley, London.
A renowned early maker of longcase clocks and watches, Dingley was born in 1647, the son of Thomas of Ewell, Surrey, and was apprenticed in 1661 to Richard Pierce.
The c.1690 walnut marquetry inlaid clock carries an estimate of £3000-5000.
