Painted in tempera and gold on a 3ft 1in x 22cm (90 x 56cm) panel, the signature Symon fecit hoc opus has allowed Paris Old Masters dealership G Sarti to identify its provenance with nearcertainty to the Bolognese church of San Michele del Mercato di Mezzo. It has many of the hallmarks of a picture from the latter years of the artist’s career c.1395. The asking price will be in the region of €600,000.
