The three pieces shown here for sale at the event, held in the National Motorcycle Museum, near Birmingham, are with dealers Michelle and Antony Guzy, keen collectors of Stuart-Clarke’s work. The items were created at the artist’s studio/gallery at St Erth, near Penzance in Cornwall.
Eclipse, an extremely hard-to-find design in a unique tricorn base-shaped form, dating to 1999, is priced at £210, Golden Seascape, 2003, is priced at £185 and Blue Moon over Stormy Seas, 1989, costs £195.
Now back in Cornwall after some years spent in France and Romania, he worked alongside the celebrated glass artist Peter Layton.
Stuart-Clarke’s work has an international reach, but closer to home his inspiration takes many disparate forms, including the Cornish landscape and the singer Boy George, who inspired the artist’s Karma range.
Ever entranced by the magic of the glass form, the 73-year-old says of his work: “It is the adventure of blowing, never knowing until you open the kiln door each morning what yesterday’s adventure produced.”
