Among the highlights are an early 18th century marquetry cabinet, ticketed at £14,500, which furniture dealer Kate Thurlow sold to an overseas trade buyer, and an 18th century Swedish cabinet with its original glass with an asking price of £15,000 at the stand of Maison Artefact.
Nineteenth and 20th century English furniture specialist Guy Dennler sold a George II period walnut tallboy ticketed at £9850, while an 18th century Italian console table, priced around £6000, went from the stand of Geoffrey Stead.
The fair took place at the Battersea Evolution centre and hosted more than 160 dealers. It was the first event since the announcement in June that veteran exhibitor of Darren Hudson would be co-organiser of the event. He pointed to export sales and trade buying as particular strengths of this edition.
Among those trade buyers and decorators reported attending by the organisers were Rose Uniacke, Philip Mould and interior designer Paolo Moschino, as well as dealerships Balsamo Antiques and Pillar and Post from the US. Other well-known faces included artist Jack Vettriano, author Julian Fellowes, comedian David Sedaris and actor Richard E Grant.
