This large Soviet porcelain platter (or one identical to it) was used to advertise the Exhibition of Soviet Porcelain marking the 10th anniversary of the Revolution in 1927.

Painted by Zinaida Kobyletskaya after the design by Sergei Chekhonin, it carries the message Workers of the World, Unite. At Sotheby’s sale of Russian works of art – one of three catalogues offered on November 28 – it is estimated at £20,000-30,000.

Christie’s sale of Important Russian Art on November 27 – including a Fabergé model of a sedan chair (estimate £700,000-1m) – begins London’s Russian series, with MacDougall’s sale of paintings on the morning of November 29 preceding Bonhams’ mixed media Russian sale.
