An Anglo-Saxon enamel and gilt metal brooch that was found by a metal detectorist in Surrey is thought to depict the head of a king.
The head is formed with four colours while the gilt metal surround has raised stylised leaves and two of four enamel pellets.
It dates to c.9th-11th century and will be included in Duke’s sale in Dorchester on October 12, estimated at £3000-5000.

An 19th century sliding box camera and accessories were among the contents removed from the attics of Standen Hall in Lancashire and sold earlier this year.
Separated during the dispersal, the camera has since been reunited with its original glass plates and will be offered at Flints’ auction in Stoke Newington, London, on October 20. One of the plates depicts the hall’s exterior after it was refurbished in the early 18th century.
The camera was made by optical instruments maker Negretti & Zambra in London, and together the lot carries an estimate of £3000-5000.

Woolley & Wallis’ Design sale on October 17 in Salisbury offers a Clarice Cliff Fantasque Bizarre ‘House and Bridge’ wall charger.
The piece featured on the front cover of Peter Wentworth-Shields and Kay Johnson’s 1976 book Clarice Cliff. It measures 16½in (42cm) in diameter and is painted in yellow, orange, red and black bands.

A George Engleheart (1750-1829) portrait miniature will feature in Bishop & Miller’s sale in Stowmarket, Suffolk, on October 21.
Dated to 1804, the oil on ivory depicts the British politician Berkeley Paget (1780-1842) in a fur-collared jacket, white shirt and grey stock. The miniature was exhibited in the Victoria and Albert Museum’s Engleheart exhibition in 1929 and still owned at the time by the Paget family.
Estimate £2500-3000.
