A modern-day Fabergé egg from the family of the actor Bill Tarmey (1941-2012) is included in Peter Wilson’s sale in Nantwich, Cheshire, on September 13-14. Tarmey, who played Jack Duckworth in the soap opera Coronation Street, bought the 18ct yellow gold and royal blue guilloche enamel egg to display in his own Greater Manchester home.
Made in an edition of 100 (it is stamped 51/100), the egg dates from 1989-2009 when German jewellery house Victor Mayer held the licence to use the Fabergé name. Described as in excellent condition, it comes in an original leather presentation box.

This rare 1943 Irish silver florin is estimated at €5000-6000 in Whyte’s of Dublin’s sale on September 9.
It was produced in 1943, the final year that Irish .750 fine silver coinage was struck in England at the Royal Mint.
Only one £100 bag of 1000 coins is thought to have gone into circulation with a 1943 date. From that bag, only around 50 coins have been recorded in collections.

A star of Adam Partridge’s sale on September 21 in Cheshire is this John Frederick Herring Senior (1795-1865) oil on canvas of the 1834 Derby winner Plenipotentiary.
The 23in x 2ft 6in (58.5 x 76cm) oil on canvas is detailed in the vendor’s grandfather’s inventory of chattels from 1934 and was purchased from London dealers Agnews in c.1910. It will be sold with a contemporary gilt-tooled red leather key for the painting.
