A consignment of more than 2500 Dinky toys from the Parodi family has been secured by C&T Auctioneers in Tunbridge Wells. The family were the sole importers of Meccano and Dinky products into Italy from 1916-78. Assembled initially by Arturo Parodi, the group consists of English and French models dating from the mid-1950s through to the late 1970s, with the first 500-lot instalment offered on September 19.
This French 24V Buick Roadmaster Dinky in salmon-pink and black, complete with box, is estimated at £200-300.

Around 60 lots of Moorcroft pottery from a single-owner collection will go under the hammer at Thomson Roddick Auctioneers in Carlisle on September 13.
Ranging in prices from £60-1000, the group includes modern works by Sally Tuffin, Beverley Wilkes and Rachael Bishop.
This large 12½in (32cm) high twin-handled Carp pattern vase designed by Tuffin is estimated at £300-500.

A trio of 18th century English naïve school portraits are included in Gerrards Auction Rooms’ September 7-8 sale in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire.
Set within a possibly 17th century wooden frame ornately decorated with grapes and leaves, this 2ft 4in x 23in (71 x 58cm) oil on canvas of a noble lady was possibly painted by a travelling artist and is unsigned. The portraits have all come from the same source and were originally in a large English house.

A letter from George IV when he was Prince Regent to his friend and fashionista Beau Brummell is included in a single-owner collection of letters, autographs and documents consigned to Lacy Scott Knight’s sale in Bury St Edmunds on September 9.
The message, cancelling a dinner date, is estimated at £80-120.
The collection was originally assembled by Lady Charlotte Portal (d.1899), the daughter of Gilbert, the 2nd Earl of Minto (1782-1859), and passed down through her family before part of it went through Sotheby’s in 1938. The collection is now being consigned from a ‘well-connected’ Scottish family residing in East Anglia.
Other highlights include a letter from Charles Dickens describing the disastrous visit of Hans Christian Andersen and notes featuring sketches from painters, Edwin Landseer and William Holman Hunt.
