Evans, who is currently in India sourcing textiles for the fair, said of the piece: “These two pieces of vintage silk sari fabric have been stitched together with kantha or running stitch. The work is so fine it can be used on either side.”

From Christine Boydell, who trades as Festival of Pattern specialising in mid-century textiles, comes Summer Pride, also above, designed by Wolfgang Bauer for Heals in 1965. This length of screen-printed cotton measures 4ft wide x 6ft 6in long (1.25 x 2m) and will cost £45 at the fair.

The event will offer textiles from the 18th century to the 1960s and ‘70s as well as pre-1950s rugs.

The Textile Society’s work is highlighted, as well as a showcase of recent pieces by the organisation’s student bursary winners.
