This Chinese gilt bronze Buddha seated on a double lotus throne shown above was acquired in the early 20th century in Harbin.
The original purchaser of the 11in (28cm) high piece was the vendor’s great-grandfather, a train driver who worked on the Trans-Siberian railway.
Bearing a Kangxi six-character mark but of a later period, it is estimated at £200-300 in Ewbank’s sale in Surrey on April 12.
From the same source is a 9in (21.5cm) wide Chinese porcelain blue and white bowl, with a Kangxi character mark and of the period, which carries a £4000-6000 estimate. It is decorated with four panels of figures, the interior adorned with five boys playing in a garden setting.
A Women’s Institute valuation event in Monmouth near the Welsh-English border unearthed this cartoon postcard written and signed by suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst.
In the note, sent to the vendor’s great-great-aunt Miss Herbert, Pankhurst enquires how many meetings she has attended recently and ‘trusts that she will see her’ at a meeting at the Rolls Hall in Monmouth.
The postcard is estimated at £200-300 in a sale on April 6 at Smiths Auction Rooms in Newent, Gloucestershire.
Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood’s sale in Exeter on April 10-11 will feature this George III Scottish silver-mounted coconut cup.
Made by Alexander Spence in Edinburgh, 1790, it is carved with thistles, palm trees and pineapples on a waisted stem.
Estimate £400-500.

Among the pictures is this study of a bay hunter in a landscape by artist and book illustrator Pamela Searight. The 13 x 18in (34 x 46cm) watercolour is signed and dated 1938.
