Still in the original wrappers, a scarce example of an 18pp offprint of that lecture as published in the BA’s ‘Proceedings’ sold for £1700 in a July 17 sale held by Bellmans (22% buyer’s premium).

Inscribed on the cover by Lewis to the Shakespeare scholar CJ Sisson, it was accompanied by a related note from Lewis to the recipient, who at the time was Northcliffe Professsor of Modern English Literature at UCL and editor of the Modern Language Review.
