This maiolica plaque shown above is based on Benedetto da Maiano’s (1442-97) distinguished marble relief of the Madonna and Child, which now resides in the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
The 17 x 14in (44 x 36cm) piece was probably made by Deruta and unusually bears a date of 1586.
It is estimated at £3000-5000 in Woolley & Wallis’ sale of porcelain and pottery in Salisbury on February 20.

This matching pair of ivory portrait miniatures pictured above depicts Lady Isabel Anne (née Maitland, 1772-1858) and her husband Sir Francis Dashwood.
Painted by Anne Mee (1765-1851), the prolific English miniature painter of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, they were probably commissioned to commemorate the betrothal and subsequent marriage of the couple.
Passed by family descent, the pair is priced at £2500 from Philip Mould in Pall Mall, London.
Designed as a rose-cut diamond urn motif set atop a blue enamel panel, a typical late Georgian gold mourning brooch is included in Fellows’ Antique & Modern Jewellery sale in Birmingham on February 15.
It features a glazed hair panel to the reverse, surrounded by a gold engraved border.

A group of 12 Royal Worcester porcelain plaques, including nine by James Stinton (1870-1961), will go under the hammer in an English and European ceramics sale at Bellmans in Sussex on March 6-8.
Part of the famous Worcester Stinton dynasty renowned for their highland cattle and gamebird scenes, James moved to Royal Worcester in 1902 and specialised in game birds.
