Demétre Chiparus dancer figure sold at Golding Young & Mawer on June 13 for £15,000.
This Demétre Chiparus (1886-1947) figure was the star at a Golding Young & Mawer (20% buyer’s premium) sale in Bourne, Lincolnshire.
On a marble and bronze-set plinth base etched Teteing, Paris, giving an overall height of 21in (53cm), the exotic dancer was estimated at £5000-8000 on June 13 but sold to a South African bidder at £15,000.
