Kristian Wimshurst’s late father Brian Wimshurst opened the 17th century premises as an antique shop in 1971.

He said: “We are closing Diss Antiques at the end of July to concentrate on what we do best, which is the restoration of antique furniture and upholstery and antique clock and watch restoration.

“We’ve always done this from our workshop in Roydon, a few miles away, and now we will be adding a showroom there to sell antiques.”

Hard work

He added: “I love what I do but it’s hard running a small business in a small town and I will miss my customers at the shop, many of whom I have known for years.

“I would like to thank them all for their support and hope they will come to see me in Roydon.”

Wimshurst is keeping the shop’s landline number. Contact him on 01379 642213.
