This dynamic design by AM Cassandre (1901-68) above, advertising the French railway company, Étoile du Nord, is among the stars of an online vintage poster sale at Onslows on July 13.
The well-preserved 3ft 5in x 2ft 6in (1.04m x 75cm) poster was printed by Hachard & Cie in Paris in 1927 for Chemin de Fer du Nord and Compagnie Wagon-Lits.
After years of French railway posters depicting picturesque views or bathing ‘belles’, Cassandre broke with tradition by focusing on images of the train and the railway itself. This example was inherited by a US expat living in Spain and is estimated at £10,000-15,000.
This complete set of signed, first edition ‘deluxe’ Harry Potter books, above, is estimated at £9000-15,000 in a TV and film sale at Vectis in Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees, on July 10.
The seven books were published in London by Bloomsbury between 1997-2007. Each volume is signed by author JK Rowling in blue and black ink.
A July 11 sale of jewellery at Dreweatts in Donnington Priory, Newbury, will feature this gold, enamel, sapphire and diamond hinged bangle created by Masriera y Carreras.
The firm, which merged the jewellery dynasties of the Masiera and Carreras families in 1915, is known for its Art Nouveau style.
This signed bangle decorated with a seated nymph is made from an original design by Lluís Masriera and comes in a Masriera I Carreras box with a certificate card dated 05-07-89. Estimate £6000-8000.
