BRUNEAF – Cultures

One of the longest-standing events in the tribal art dealing fraternity takes place this month in Brussels, a key centre of the tribal art market.

What started many years ago as BRUNEAF, or the Brussels Non European Arts Fair, has for the past three years formed part of Cultures, a tripartite event that also features antiquities and Asian art.

The format remains the same: a gallery-based trail set mostly in the city’s Sablon area where the streets are crammed with art and antiques galleries. Around 60 dealers open their doors, with 32 tribal art specialists providing the largest share of the attraction.

The participants are a mix of resident dealers and those from other countries in Europe and the US who have taken gallery space for the occasion. Some have themed exhibitions, others offer latest acquisitions and all are within relatively short walking distance. Cultures runs from June 6-10.
