His collection, spanning over 300 years of horological history, will be sold by Melbourne auction house Leonard Joel on June 25.

Leading the auction is a George II musical organ clock (estimate Aus$40,000-50,000) made by Charles Clay in London c.1735 for the Dutch market. The mahogany bell-topped case includes a hand-painted frontispiece depicting allegorical scenes and featuring moving figures.

Two very similar clocks, on the themes of The Temple and Oracle of Apollo and The Temple of the Four Grand Monarchies of the World, were acquired for the Royal Collection and now reside at Windsor Castle and Kensington Palace.
