This original drawing by Ralph Steadman for the 1971 first appearance of Hunter S Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was sold for $28,000 (£20,820) at Christie’s New York.
This famous classic of counter-culture literature was first published in two consecutive issues of Rolling Stone magazine and this Steadman drawing featured as a coloured version featured on the cover of the second of them, in November of that year.
