A censer by Kinkozan – £4500 at Catherine Southon.
Depicting a crowded ceremonial court scene to one side and a crowded coastal scene to the other, it had minor flaws. The lid of the 4in (10.5cm) tall censer had a restored chip, the temple dog finial had some slight wear and there was a tiny nibble to the base – but none of this deterred bidders at the Farleigh Court Golf Club on March 7.
Battling against phone and online bidders, a collector of Asian art from Kent in the room won with a bid of £4500.
