Thirty dealers will be selling from an upstairs room at his Frock Me vintage fair in Kensington Town Hall on Sunday, June 10. There appears to be no other dedicated jewellery fair like this on the circuit.
So successful have the two Frock Me fairs been in February and April at their temporary venue in Kensington, while the long-standing venue of Chelsea Town Hall is being refurbished, “that every single exhibitor wants us to continue holding events there”, says Adams.
But why stage a separate jewellery fair? “Because jewellery always sells so well at Frock Me, we have many more applications from jewellery dealers than we can accommodate, so we restrict the numbers to around six per fair to maintain a balance.
“By holding a separate jewellery fair on the first floor while the vintage fair runs downstairs, and with no extra admission charge, this solves that and we can take jewellery dealers off our waiting list.”
The first jewellery fair on June 10 will be a bit of a testing ground for the organiser. If it is met with a good response by dealers and visitors, Adams plans another on December 2 and then potentially another four to five annual vintage jewellery events at Kensington Town Hall. This is in addition to the five or six Frock Me fairs that will continue every year back at Chelsea Town Hall when it reopens in the autumn after refurbishments.
Adams says with a laugh: “I thought I would be working less in my old age – I can’t see that happening any time soon.”
